Australian Version of the Third Single from "x&y" with Two B-side Tracks; "Gravity" Coldplay's Recording "Gravity", a UK Top 10 Song Chris Martin Wrote for Embrace and the Exclusive Track "Sleeping Gun".
Customer Review: Get it for...
the song "Gravity". Slow, soft beat to it with beautiful lyrics. Sleeping Sun took me a while to get use to but it too is a nice song. X&Y's best B-side is Gravity, this coming from a guy who has about 20 other B-sides from Coldplay.
Customer Review: Great song, bad media
I'm not a coldplay fan at all, but liked this song so much I had to have it. Unfortunately, I don't like the sound of the recording on the CD5. It sounds tinny and somehow mastered wrong. Maybe it's the copy protection, but it sure ruins a great song.

What's the deal with so many white music artists singing black music? Why do white artists who sing black music get better promotion than black artists? Why is R&B music now synonymous with Hip-Hop?

These are some of the hot topics that often come up in private conversations with my industry associates and colleagues. I will attempt to shed some much needed light on these delicate, sensitive and somewhat controversial issues.

To really understand the phenomenon of white music artists singing R&B, you should begin with an examination of the motivation and purpose behind the establishment of black music divisions at record companies in the 60s. While the success of Motown as a black owned operation has been well-documented and highly publicized, many of the competing record labels of that time lacked the personnel to adequately exploit the abundance of musically talented black teens.

White owned record companies shrewdly appointed black music executives who were more in tune and in touch with black music (and the black artists that created and performed it), to help interface with them. This was, after all, a time when race relations were tentative and strained.

Many record companies and radio stations took note of the increasing popularity of R&B music among white teenagers and attempted to preserve racial barriers by denying them access to it. Their denial constituted a potential economic problem since the music industry (like most industries) thrives on supply and demand. Their solution: provide their darling teenaged kids with a "white" alternative; someone who "sounded" black and performed "black" music, a la Elvis Presley, whose popularity was soaring. It wasn't uncommon for records in that era often to have two different versions - a white version and a black version - which was serviced to the appropriate audience.

In the 70's, the push toward equality and peace gave birth to a more gregarious and unified music industry. Top bands like Sly & The Family Stone, Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, and The Commodores emerged and enjoyed success throughout the 70s, but many lacked crossover appeal and forced black music executives to search for other viable options in order to save their jobs. One option was Disco - the hot novelty genre.

Disco was more than a new genre; it was a cultural release from the lingering social anxieties and racial tensions of the 60s and emerged as the dominant format because of its mass market appeal and universal acceptance. The music industry eventually sobered up from the lecherous activities and rampant drug abuse of the disco era in 1979, just in time to endure the worst financial year of its existence.

With slumping record sales and a gluttony of music acts that were signed to perform disco songs, the R&B music community returned to its soulful roots and searched desperately for an answer to rectify the problems that plagued it. The answer wasn't written on the wall, but it was found in the album "Off The Wall" by Michael Jackson, which helped to transition successful R&B music back into a more "Pop-friendly" format that was comparable to R&B in its last heyday of the Motown era.

While Michael captured the hearts and imaginations of white America with his unhuman dance moves, there were plenty of black music pioneers upholding the funky values and virtues of black music as we we marched into the techno era of the 80's. R&B music seemed to undergo a much needed resurgence.

The R&B bands of the 70s started to downsize in personnel as more emphasis was being placed on solo acts (a la Michael Jackson) and vocal groups. For the R&B music artist, the advent of technology superseded the need to be backed up by a band, ushering in the producer era which R&B music is heavily predicated on today.

It was also at this time that many record companies began merging and restructuring, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of jobs for black music executives who were worked in the black music divisions.

Shortly thereafter, we witnessed the birth of "blue-eyed soul" as white music artists who were performing R&B music begun to receive heavy and steady financial backing by their record labels. Hall & Oates enjoyed unprecedented success in the early and mid-80s and proved to be a litmus test for the acceptance of white artists performing R&B under the guise of Pop music.

While Hall & Oates may have raised a few eyebrows in the R&B music community, eyes were opened widely when George Michael, a former member of Pop teen group Wham!, won a Grammy for the best "black" album in 1989. It was the first time in history that a white solo music artist topped the R&B charts. The R&B music community was outraged as veteran black music artists Freddie Jackson and Gladys Knight denounced the political voting practices of the Academy that renders the nominations.

While the award was well-deserved in terms of record sales and radio airplay, the color lines of who qualified as a "black" music artist had been re-defined. When the smoke cleared, the music industry in general, and R&B music community in particular, would both be changed forever.

As we stood on the doorsteps of the 90s, more black music executives lost their jobs as record companies continued the trend of merging, restructuring and downsizing in an effort to diversify their business interests and increase their profits.

Rap music was (finally) being fully embraced as a commercially viable genre and record companies moved quickly to cash in on it. The appeal of low investments, and (potentially) high returns, constituted a major shift in business practices at record companies, and black music artists found themselves jockeying for position on the revamped priority lists of their now predominantly white music executives. After all, Rap was already achieving a high level of "underground" sales with DJs and word-of-mouth serving as its primary means of promotion.

All the record companies needed to do was to bring it to the surface and supply their distribution and marketing resources. Since much of the music was already recorded, they could also circumvent many of the recording costs as well. While the music industry made an overt and deliberate attempt to position itself to supply what appeared to be an insatiable demand for Rap music, it lost sight of the distinction between R&B and Rap.

R&B music lovers helplessly watched as orders came down from white music executives to incorporate elements of Rap music into R&B songs to make them more competitive with Rap, since Rap music artists posed a clear and tangible threat to the record sales of R&B music artists.

At the time, Mariah Carey and Color Me Badd were enjoying newfound stardom that came (once again) as a result of white music executives pushing a novelty agenda of white music artists performing R&B music. Both of the aforementioned acts were initially viewed (by black audiences) as alternatives to their black competitors (Whitney Houston and Boyz II Men respectively), but with such strong marketing and promotional support, both Mariah Carey and Color Me Badd were able to establish their own identity at a faster rate.

Today, the trend continues with white music executives diligently marketing and promoting white music artists such as Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone, Anastacia, etc. singing R&B. Some insiders say that the music industry continues to deliberately and intentionally find alternatives to black music artists to service to white audiences. Industry insiders say that Britney Spears is essentially a white clone of Janet Jackson; emulating her Pop/R&B format, choreographed dance moves, and calculated sex appeal.

It's suspect when newcomers like American Idol's Elliot Yamin are quickly embraced and heralded as "great" R&B singers when juxtaposed against longtime R&B survivors like Brian McKnight, Joe, and Anthony Hamilton.

While some will argue that it's not a simple matter of black versus white since since some of the artists mentioned in this article are not "white," but are of different ethnicities or even part black. The fact is that the widely held opinion in the black community is that if you don't look black (possessing obvious African American features), then you are not. You are something else other than black; and "white" becomes a reference to, or a description of, an undetermined racial category.

The new business model of the music industry has created new opportunities for black entrepreneurs, but many of them lack the financial resources to take advantage of them. As a result they are often forced to participate in the production of Rap music, or R&B music with Rap production as they try to manufacture or supply product and artists that will enable them to embark upon partnerships and joint ventures with the same record companies that dissolved their black music divisions in the first place.

History and research show that the music industry has continued to systematically reduce the role of the black music executive, as they are fired and laid off with greater frequency (and less justification) than their white counterparts. Many of those who remain are often relegated to the now dispensable role of liaison, gatekeeper and hand-holder for troubled Rap acts in this new Hip-Hop era. A far cry from a time when they were once responsible for finding, developing and supporting premier black music artists who created some of the greatest music that we now view as the soundtrack to the this country's history.

Those songs are still the choice of middle-aged Americans who tune into oldie radio stations across the country that have adopted "Classic Soul" as a new format. Where does that leave R&B music artists of today? They are left to compete or join forces with Rap artists since they have been lumped into the same "Urban" or "Hip-Hop" music category.

The formulaic use of R&B to inject a commercial element into Rap music has contributed significantly to the fusion, and confusion regarding the distinction of both genres. This can be traced back to the 80s when R&B acts such as Lakeside, Confunksion, and Teena Marie had huge hits with songs that incorporated Rap ("Fantastic Voyage," "Electric Lady," and "Square Biz"), R&B music embarked upon a trial marriage that turned out to be a permanent one.

R&B is now used to bolster the talent level perception, black audience appeal, and record sales of white music artists in every genre. Even Country (a genre that is guarded by a closed-knit circle of protective white executives), borrows heavily from R&B.

Country is a genre that is ripe for infiltration by conventional R&B artists, but unlike R&B music - which has become a community genre with no one race retaining the inherent rights to perform it - the likelihood of that occurring is slim because of the unquestioned and unchallenged exclusion of other races.

The significant issue in white R&B music artists versus black R&B music artists can be narrowed down to one question: who gets the greater commitment and promotion from their record companies to service a larger audience of consumers?

When one considers the commitment level, dedicated resources, and promotional opportunities which are more abundant for white R&B music artists, and that blacks only account for 15 percent of the population, and that white music artists inherit a larger audience to begin with, understanding the green side of white R&B becomes much easier.

Talk

Includes unreleased b-side track.
Customer Review: "Talk" is Coldplay's first club single
Several single versions of Coldplay's "Talk" have been released to date, most which contain live tracks as B-sides. However, you may not know it, but several club mixes of "Talk" have been made as well, and the track is fast becoming Coldplay's first real club hit. (A remix of "Clocks" also got some play in clubs but not to this extent.) While at first glance this may seem surprising it actually makes perfect sense. You see, the melody of "Talk" is actually sampled from Kraftwerk's 1983 electronic single "Computerlove". The remixes of "Talk" are official mixes and have been promoted to clubs in both the U.S. and overseas. Thus far, I haven't seen any of the "Talk" remixes included on a the maxi single releases, but they may be included at some point. However, they are available on iTunes, and definitely worth purchasing. The remixes promoted in the U.S. include the Junkie XL and Francois K mixes. Junkie XL has done a number of notable club remixes of rock tracks in the last couple of years. Their mix is outstanding - it maintains the beauty and emotional intimacy of the song but adds a distinctive "buildup" at the beginning and a strong rhythm underneath to bring it up to a whole new level. The Francois K remix of "Talk" is a complete reworking of the song - bringing it more in style towards Kraftwerk's original "Computerlove". Very electronic, very "detached" - definitely quite an accomplishment but in my opinion not as good as the Junkie XL mix. "Talk" will reach #3 on the Billboard Dance/Club Chart as of early March 2006.
Customer Review: Only B-side!
I just got this today and there is only the Sleeping Sun song and the radio edit version of Talk. There is contradictory information on this page and, even though I would have bought it anyway, it was quite a disappointment when I opened it up and saw only one. :( Maybe there's a version out there with both b-sides, but I haven't found it yet. The Sleeping Sun song is great, of course.

Play Acoustic Guitar with " Coldplay " -TAB-Music Book & CD

Yogafit founder Beth Shaw has compiled an exquisite set of intoxicating grooves featuring female vocalists. Created to enhance the experience of yoga, dance or late-night listening with your sweetie, Angels Voices is sure to click in your pulse as a relaxes your mind. Award-winning DJs the Gordon Brothers mixed this entrancing selection of tracks to maximize the mystical union of body, mind, heart and spirit. Juicy world beat rhythms drive magical melodies and lay the foundation for showcasing the deliciously sensual vocals of electronic stars such as Suzanne Sterling, Sophia, Darshini, Irina Mikhailova and Helene Horlyck.

While I've reviewed a number of the CDs this music comes from, compilations such as Angels Voices are always a great way to introduce people to music that they might not otherwise know about. Helene Horlyck, for example, is featured on Achillea: The Nine Worlds. Achillea is Enigma co-founder Gens Gad, so if you love to groove with Enigma (I'm a huge fan) you're sure to love tracks such as "Cape Porcupine," "Odin's Hill" or "Staraja Ladoga." Keyboards, outrageous guitar licks and loads of seductive percussion make these tracks, and everything on Angels Voices, a delight for the senses.

I would also like to point out the group Hands Upon Black Earth. Though they have yet to release a solo album, the succulent grooves and enchanting vocals of Irina Mikhailova on "Aroha Eternal" and Suzanne Sterling on "The Star and the Snake" are hopeful signs of more to come from this mysterious, inventive collective.

An excellent choice for active movement, including Sweat Your Prayers and other forms of sacred dance, Angels Voices is sure to quicken the pulse and awakened the kundalini life force. It's also a superb introduction to the Sequoia Groove releases on Sequoia Records, all of which I highly recommend.

The History of Latin Music

Explores Latin music, examining its roots and styles, describing the rise in popularity of Latin music in the 1970s, and looking at the link between music and politics in South America.

One of the most common techniques used by signed artists when writing rap and hip-hop lyrics is to use pop culture references. Study any artist's lyrics and you'll find cultural references scattered throughout their verses. A pop culture reference is when an artist 'name checks' something that is part of modern day culture usually by way of metaphor or simile. There are many examples of what references to use eg sports stars, videogame characters, and television characters etc, basically anything that your audience may be familiar with. Here are two examples and with each one the cultural reference is underlined and explained:

'When I stroll through the hood kids don't dare jump me,
Coz I'm tougher than M Bison on level nine difficulty,'

Anyone whose played videogames in the last ten years knows that M Bison is the last boss of Street Fighter 2, and a particularly tough one at that. This line states that I'm tougher than him on the maximum difficulty setting. Using this line will make the listener think 'yeah, I remember him! wow that's clever!' and grab their attention. Here's another example:-

'I'm a Dope MC, the killer punch thrower,
Knocking you out like I'm Rocky Balboa,'

This line references the famous fictional boxer Rocky Balboa. Again this line will catch people's attentions due to the fact that everyone knows who he is!

Below is a list of pop-culture references that will go down well when writing rap and hip hop lyrics:-

-TV and Film: eg TV and film characters, locations, shows etc

-Celebrities: eg celebrities and what they get up to

-Music: eg artists and songs

-Videogames: eg videogame characters, locations, vehicles etc (see the first original example)

-Literature: eg characters and events from novels, comics etc

-Historical People/Events: eg various people and events from the past eg The Vietnam War,

-Sport: eg sports starsteamsvenues

-Political Figures: eg people involved in politics

-Landmarks: eg famous landmarks and places

-Companies and Businesses: eg famous companies and brand names

It's hard to pin point exactly why they work well in rap and hip hop lyrics, but it seems that hearing something mentioned in someone's lyrics that you personally know about just seems to grab your attention. One TV program which is well renowned for its use of pop culture references is Family Guy. Every episode is packed with references to pop culture ranging from Star Wars characters to famous celebrities. This is why the show works so well. If you really want to write commercially successful raps then it's important that you use these in your raps so the audience can connect with you.

It's important to note that you should use cultural references that your intended listening audience will understand. If you're writing commercial hip-hop which is aimed at teenagers then referring to an obscure seventies TV show will not work well as they won't understand what you're referring to. On the other hand if you're writing intelligent hip-hop it would work better as you'll be writing for a mature older audience. Also the same applies to location. If you're a British emcee you should stick to British cultural references as your target audience will appreciate them more. There's no point name checking that famous ice hockey player as most British people won't be aware of him!

Where to Find Effective Cultural References

Anyone raised in a certain culture will already have a wealth of references available to use, but then again you're limited by what you know. Someone who isn't really into sport will not know much on the subject and therefore won't be able to use as many sport related cultural references as other emcees. Remember the wider the range of cultural references you use the more people you'll be able to connect with. The best place to find potential pop culture references by far is the website www.wikipedia.org.

For those of you don't know Wikipedia is an online encyclopaedia where anyone is allowed to update the pages. It contains articles on just about anything. By looking through this you can find everything you need to know on just about everything- from pop star's controversies to TV program characters! I normally have a Wikipedia session every week where I grab my rhyme book then start browsing through Wikipedia looking for any 'references' I can use in my rhymes. When I do find something interesting I make a note of it in my rhyme book. I don't always come up with full bars, but the important thing is the ideas and punches are there. I normally come back later and turn these ideas into full bars. I can then use these bars when I come to write full rap verses.

Stay tuned for more articles on writing rap and hip-hop lyrics

Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine - Evolution

Customer Review: Lot of music for the money!
Gloria arrived on the music video scene in the mid eighties. You will see some videos from that era. What was played on MTV or VH1 was that `cat video,' "Bad Boys". Even way back then, the cat costumes and makeup are very well-done. "Dr. Beat" is a goofy, conglomeration of people in a hospital setting. There are some concert stage videos "Betcha Say That" and "Words Get In the Way." Early music videos required color and dance to attract the attention of viewers and "Rhythm is Gonna Get You" fits that category as well as "Conga" and "Get On Your Feet", and "1-2-3." A superb balladeer with a sultry voice, you will see videos "Can't Stay Away from You." Although I am not a "Gloria fan", this collection is good because it is strictly music, no interview, no extra non-music footage. I like a collection with JUST MUSIC! For the people who love Gloria, you will see the English and Spanish versions "Oye Mi Canto" "Don't Wanna Lose You", and "Anything for You" and "Here We Are." If you are new to Gloria or love Gloria's music, this a great collection. It will introduce you to her evolution in music....Mzrizz
Customer Review: A must have for any Gloria fan or pop fan.
Very good collection of her early hits with Miami Sound Machine. It covers her songs from 1984(Dr. Beat) to 1989(Here We Are). My favorite Estefan song is on this video,(Can't Stay Away From You).

Gigging is probably one of the most enjoyable activities a musician can experience. There is always something special about performing in front of a live audience. The sound of a crowds appreciation when you have just ripped up the stage with a great performance of your best tunes. There is just nothing like it. But what happens when things dont go exactly as planed? And what happens when things fail miserably? If you have ever gigged I am sure you are familiar with Murphy law: If things can go wrong, they probably will. I have had experiences like: amps blowing up, guitar strings breaking, stolen fuses in my amp, bad cords, out of tune guitars, ect... These things happen to all bands and what makes the difference between a professional and an amateur is how you deal with these problems. You need to do some preplanning and put together a a Musicians First Aid Kit. When a problem does occur, you will be prepared to quickly fix the problem and get on with your show.

Guitar/Bass Strings

Get at least one extra set for each guitar or bass you have at the gig. If you pop a string you will be prepared to replace it. Remember this golden rule for guitars and basses: Never step on stage without a properly tuned backup guitar or bass. If you have any problems with your main ax all you have to do is pick up your backup and fix the problem on your next break.

Cords

Get a complete second set of cords. This includes patch cords and mike cables.

Batteries

Go through all of your gear and make a note of all of the batteries you use. Get backups for everything and make sure the backups dont sit and go dead before you replace them. Consider some type of preventative maintenance schedule so you can keep track how long batteries are in use and when they need replacement. Dont forget about the guitar tuner!

Fuses

Again go through all of your gear and make a note of all the proper sizes of your fuses. Get some type of small segregated box and label the top with the current ratings for the fuses (1A, 5A ect...). Never put a fuse that has a higher current rating in your amp or gear. There is a reason the manufacture put that size fuse in your system. Never, Never wrap a fuse with tin foil to bypass it! If your fuses keeps blowing, you have a short in this gear and by putting a larger fuse or bypassing it all together you may completely blow it up which will will cost you plenty to repair. Also I should mention that by bypassing your fuse you run the risk of electrocuting yourself! Never under any circumstanceses bypass your fuses!

Drummers

Get a spare snare drum. If your snares let go just replace the whole drum with the spare and repair your main snare at break. Bring many extra sticks. I played with a drummer once that didnt bring enough sticks to a gig one night. He had to play the last half of our set with a screwdriver! Needless to say he had to replace all of his drum heads after this gig! Bring some spare hardware and also get another kick drum pedal. Some spare drum heads are always a good idea and make sure to bring a set of tools.

Keyboard Players

What would happen if your main synth went out? Maybe you could program your second synth with similar sounds. I know it wont be perfect but it will get you through the gig.

Singers

Do you have a spare mic? If not you should pick one up. I recommend a Sure 58. They are not very expensive and are reliable for a great backup if not a main mic.

Horn Players

Since I dont play horns I cant comment too much however I can recommend that you think about what could go wrong with your instrument. What could you do if it failed during a gig? Again a backup might be a good idea.

Amps

If you use an amp in your performance and it fails what could you do? A small spare is a good idea. Guitar players can use a guitar processor as a backup amp and it can be plugged directly into the PA. Again I know this wont sound perfect but it will get you through the gig. Bass players have it easy if their amps go out. Plug directly into the PA. If you play bass you may want to consider buying a direct box specifically for that purpose. Same goes for keyboard players, plug directly into the PA with a DI box

All Bands

Always have plenty of duct tape! This stuff can get you out of some major jams!

I have not covered everything that can go wrong with your gear at a show but hopefully this will spark some ideas of the things that you can do if your gear fails. Put together your Musicians First Aid Kit in some sort of tool box or fishing tackle box. If you are prepared when things go wrong at your gigs (and believe me they will) it is no big deal. If you are not prepared you will look like an amateur and remember you never know who is out in the audience watching. Good luck and happy gigging!

LP RhythMix Mini Bongos

Our Rythmic Bongos are two-headed drums that produce hearty, authentic sound. They stand 6" tall, with 4" and 5" diameter sturdy synthetic heads - like two drums in one! Includes a musical activity booklet. Ages 2 and up.
Customer Review: Not easy to play with bare hands and too pricey*, but not all bad
Trying to play these myself, I have to play pretty forcefully to get a decent pitch. It's not nearly as easy to play as a better quality, non-toy version of bongos, but then, it's a whole lot sturdier than a quality wood & skin drum. The colors are vibrant and very appealing. These have withstood the abuses heaped on them by my kids from their toddler through preschooler years, and still look great. Buy a pair of mallets or drumsticks to go with these: it makes it a whole lot easier to play, and gives children more immediate gratification. *The "too pricey" comment was made when these were retailing at $35. The new list price of $20 seems much more reasonable, and a real bargain at the sale price of $13.99!

Yellowcard - SHADOW PHOTO T-shirt, Black

Yellowcard is a rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. Their music can be classified as pop punk, and contains elements of emocore. A distinct characteristic of the music of Yellowcard is their use of a violin, making them somewhat unique within this genre

By supporting the communal harmony and national solidarity, our film industry has all along the played significant part. During the decades, a certain number of films signicatifs with interesting of the nationalist topics were made, and some of these films started from a major impact on the viewers of the ' spirits. And also important is the fact that our finer patriotic songs came from such films - the songs which now became a part of our ethos national.

Less than one year after we carried out independence, a film entided 'shaheed ' was made by Filmistan Studios. It held the first role Dilip KUMAR and Kamini Kaushal. Today, one remembers mainly this film for his song patriotic, rah Watan of ki hamen the nau watan of ke jawan shaheed Ho.. this song was written by Rajah Mehdi Ali Khan, together in music by Ghulam Haider, and was sung by Mohamed Rafi, Khan Mastana and chorus. It is still played by AIR of the important national days.

In 1954, a film of the children entitled 'jagriti ' was produced by the same banner. Perhaps no other film appreciates the distinction to have so much several of its patriotic numbers becoming so popular. Wise popularity, these songs are: Di of 'Of hamen the bina of khadag of bina of azadi dhaal, the diya kar kamaal. of of you sant of ke of sabarmati.. ', of 'Hum of bush hammer of hain ke nikaal of kishti of of ventilator too, is bachcho ke. sambhaal of rakhna of KB of desh only. the and the bachcho of 'Aao tumhen dikhayen the ki of Hindustan of jhaki, is the hai ki. balidaan of dharti of yeh of karo of tilak of of mitti.. ' all these songs were written by Pradeep and were granted by Hemant KUMAR.

Raj Kapoor was known to make the romantic films in which there was little place to adjust patriotic songs. But in a less known film produced by him and directed by Amar KUMAR, carries Nahin de Dilli of 'Ab' (1957), there were charming patriotic songs written by Shailendra and together with the music by Daftaram. The song was, hai of apna of will hamara of Shaman of ''Yeh, is... of hai of raaj of apna of EP of desh It was a song singing merrily sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. Very few people remember film today, but the song is always completely popular.

In 1957 B.R Chopra made the 'Naya Daur ' Dilip KUMAR and Vyjayanthimala to hold the first role. There was patriotic song in this film which became a fury with the active masses of cinematography. And the song was hai of desh of 'Yeh transfer ka mastano of ka of albelon of ka of jawano, is... of kahna of kya of yaro of ka of desh ' It was placed in music by O P. Nayyar.

Naushad director of music and author Shakeel Badayun of song collaborated to give us three excellent patriotic songs in the 60s. These songs equal are heard today. One of them was 'Ganga Janma of film' -. chal of EP of ki of 'Insaaf of the dikhao dagar ke. of bachcho. It was sung by Hemant KUMAR in its rich baritone. The second patriotic song, meant for children, is film 'Its of India ' - hoon of rahi of munna of Nanha. sipahi hoon. of ka of desh. . It was sung by Shanti Mathur. The third patriotic song is 'Leader of film ' - the sakte nahin. of mita of hargiz of fredonnement of KB of azadi of Apni.. it was sung by Mohamed Rafi and chorus.

Bimal Roy made a film authorized 'Kabuliwala' inside. 1961. In this film there was a beautiful patriotic song sung by Manna Dey in his incomparably mlodieuse voice. By depicting a nostalgic love of the man for the his/her motherland when it is in a certain foreign country, this song is unsurpassable. And this song was, alone pyare of Ai watan, only Shaman of bichhre of AI, the EP kurbaan. diluted tuj.. ' this song was parked by the lyric author Prem Dhawan, together in music by Salil Choudhry.

Chetan Anand made (Haqeeqat ' inside. 1964. It was a film which A depicts our confrontation not successful with the Chinese inside. 1962. The film has some patriotic songs moving. But that which is pointed out that today equal is, sathiyo Kar fidda jano-bronzing of fredonnement of chale, hawale sathiyo. watan of tumhare of ab.. ' this ditty moving was parked by Kaift Aazmi and together with an air of obsession by Madan Mohan.

In 1965 a film with the 'sikandar-e-Azam came from title'. a song of this film became so popular that it on several occasions is played today equal where us cdebrate our day of independence or Republic. And the song is, will base chidiyan by daal daal 'Jahan of hain of karti, the hai will mera. of desh of OE Bharat.. ' this song was composed by director Hansraj Behl of music.

The films of Manoj KUMAR have a marked patriotic bending. In its film 'Upkaar ' (1967), there was a patriotic song of wellknown, ugle of sona of dharti of ki of desh of Mere, the ugle here moti... , which really reflected the bleached image of India like 'sone Ki Chidiya '.
Surprisingly, the patriotic song most popular which was written by a lyric author of film, was granted by a director of music of film, and was behind sung by a singer of play really appeared in any film. It is in fact made up for a special occasion and was sung by Lata Mangeshkar in front of an assistance of the thousands of people. The first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru d' India , who was present on the stage at this occasion, was so much deeply moved by its interpretation in the voice pathetic-filled of Lata Mangeshkar which tears spouted out upwards in its eyes. The song, only logo watan of ke of Ai, paani bhar of WC of mein of annkh of will zara, unki of hain of tonality of shahid of OJ. . . this song was written by Pradeep and together with the music by C Ramchandra.

In current films, we seldom find songs patriotic. It is because the majority of films being made nowadays have hardly anything to make with patriotism. If time with other a patriotic film comes length and we hear a patriotic song in it, it, rather curiously, is forgotten soon. Why is it thus? Is because patriotism becomes now an out-of-date virtue? Or, the world moving now regularly towards its goal liked to make our planet is a generalized village and thus the national borders they slowly lose their statute of sacrosanct?

Perhaps it is true to a certain extent, but perhaps the principal reason is that we do not produce any more the songs of obsession which have in them the potential to live in our collective memory during decades together. The obsession of our director of music with stolen Western airs resounded the knell of died of our ragas traditional rich person on whom in the past the majority of the film songs were based. We can naturally still produce songs as the kishti toofan of of hain of bush hammer of ''Hum the ke that nikaal is ke sambhal... ''or... chidiyan daalpar 'Jahan of will only base hain of karti ' of bachcho of rakhna of KB of desh so only our directors of music turned to our own rich heritage of the classical music instead of imitating borrowed stupidly Western airs.

She finally accepts a secretarial position at a major production company run by the founder's dashing but womanizing son Fernando. As the company's fortunes dwindle and future prospects dim Lety comes to the rescue proving how valuable she really is - and falling in love in the process! Can Lety stand up to the beautiful catty office gossips and win not just Fernando's gratitude but his love as well? And what happens when an unexpected twist of fate turns this "ugly duckling" into a lovely swan? Customer Review: La Fea Mas Bella
If I would have known that the discs did not have enough segments to make the movie realistic, I would not have bought it. Had two sides of two discs damaged or blank and many segments left out that made movie unacceptable. I would have like to see more segments of the show.
Customer Review: Good telenovela..
One of the funniest telenovelas out there. The original was way better but this is still worth watching...

14 Horses for Che

Do you know that in order to keep your heart healthy and your weight under control, you need to walk at least 10,000 steps each day? This may sound daunting but many activities you're doing everyday such as running errands or doing household works can add up to a few hundred or even thousand of steps for you.

To maintain your health and make sure you achieve the 10,000 steps each day, here are some simple and easy exercises that you can do at home. These exercise routines not only help to keep you fit but also will tone your body as they work on some specific muscle groups. They are a lot more effective than the general exercises such as running errands and doing house chores. Here are the exercises you can easily do at home:

- Stretching exercises. Stand with both of your hands against a wall and move your left leg back so that your foot is flat against the floor. Hold for a few seconds; then repeat this move with the right leg. Another great stretching exercise you can perform is to lie on your back, use both hands, bring up your right knee to your chest and hold it for a few seconds. Repeat this routine with your left leg.

- Curl is very easy to do. Just lie on your back with both hands behind your head and raise your upper body. Repeat this move for 15-20 times.

- Leg exercises can be done by lying down on your side and lifting each leg repeatedly for 15-20 times. You can also stand and hold on to the back of a chair and lift your legs backward repeatedly.

- Arm exercises. This is important to improve muscle tone. For arm exercises, you can use an exercise band. Place both feet on one end of the band, hold the other ends with each hand and then repeatedly raise and lower the band (in an up and down motion for 10-15 minutes). If you have a pair of dumbbell, you can also use them to exercise your arms.

- If you are working at home and sitting in front of your computer most of the time, try to press down on your toes in an up and down motion frequently. This activity will help to keep the blood circulation flowing in your legs.

- If you know how to dance, put on a music CD and dance for about 20-30 minutes. This is a great cardiovascular workout. You can also incorporate push-ups, sit-ups and jumping rope into your daily home exercise routine.

- Abs workout. I have found a great 8 minute video showing you how to do abs workout at home. You can watch the video at "Best Abs Workout At Home - Only 8 Minute".

NOTE: Always do some stretching to warm up before starting any exercise routine to prevent injury.

Customer Review: Close to being brilliant!!
"If you die your son will be like us. Fatherless." From a film-makers point of view, this film is a daunting task. It has many characters but still grasps your attention. There are so many very good foreign language films nowadays. I thought Tsotsi was top notch and now, City of Men. I mean, wow! The characters in the film are young men involved in gangs, carefully woven in their anger and paranoid youth is a sense of dread and being doomed. Excellent drama. This is a must watch for anyone who's remotely interested. There will be a scene where you will laugh really really hard. There's a little kid in the film that you'll want to cuddle. You'll never want to live the character's life though. Also ... it actually made me think about something most men don't ever think of. It's about fatherhood. Before I become incoherent, I'll just end by saying, this film is going to do really well and is a must must watch. Thankyou for reading.
Customer Review: EXCELLENT FOLLOW-UP TELEVISION SERIES IN THE SPIRIT OF CITY OF GOD
This series does not follow the exact story or timeline as the movie City Of God but it takes place in Rio de Janeiro in the Favela. I was entertained and pleased with the acting, cinematography, and realness. I almost felt that I was there and I could have been there in my younger years.

This may sound simple but you simply must take lessons and if possible take two or even three a week if you can; especially at the start.

Why do we recommend you take so many lessons each week? Salsa music is complicated, may beats interwoven, and it takes time to tune your ears and feet to the rhythms.

By taking so many lessons at the beginning it reinforces what you are learning and will pay big dividends later on in the learning process.

When starting to learn Salsa its better to join a group lesson; private lessons are great for working on specific parts of your dancing but you will not get them most out of them until you have the basics down.

When joining a group lesson pick one for your level; its better to under estimate your ability than over estimate it.

There is nothing more off putting then arriving at your first lesson and find yourself out of your depth; surrounded by come dancing contestants!

Some tips on choosing the right group to learn with.

1) A class that runs for 6 to 10 weeks at least once a week.
2) The lessons are progressive; this is where you build up each week on the moves learned.

In your firs couple of months you should look too:

2 progressive classes each week

1 night out practice session at a club or event

1 private lesson after approx 5 weeks or more not essential but great to work on specifics.

Your First Lesson

Well done you have made it to your first class. May be you have come on your own or brought a dance partner. One thing we can guaranty is that you are feeling nervous.

You are worried that you have no rhythm, that you have two left feet which are on backwards. Most of all you are worried about falling flat on your face not able to dance Salsa.

As this is a beginners class look around you will see every one is looking and feeling exactly the same. You are not alone.

Remember its about having fun Its not a competition.

Here are some basic rules about lessons you should stick to what ever your level.

1. Find a teacher that suits you, its not one size fits all. There are many Salsa teachers and many ways to teach Salsa each person needs different things to enable them to learn. If your first teacher dose not do it for you find another. Your learning so get the most out of it by having a teacher and class that suits you.

2. Stay focused on what is being taught. This may sound a little simple but if you only have an hour to learn why waste it on chatting; you can do that after at the bar.

There are 1000s of distractions in class, your partner, other class members, that new cute dance partner that your about to dance with. Remember youre paying to learn Salsa; get your moneys worth.

3. Swap partner during the lesson. Yes thats right dance with different people. You may have come with a friend or significant other and want to dance with them. If the instructor is asking you to rotate your partners join in.

Why do this? it will speed up the learning process and get you used to dancing with different people; you will be doing this in the clubs. The major benefit is learning to lead and read a lead; by changing partners it will teach you to make the connection with your dance partner which will make your Salsa experiences much more pleasurable.

4. Face the same way as the instructor you are trying to follow. This will simply help you pick up the moves they are teaching much quicker. Sounds simple but you will be amazed out how many people dont do this.

5. Count out loud yes in the classes count out loud this is the one thing you should do all the time in class. I stress do this in the class so you dont have to do it in the Salsa club where it would not be accepted.

Both you and your partner should do this in the classes. Dancing in time to the rhythm is the most important part of dancing salsa. The simplest of moves or sequences look amazing when danced in time with the music.

6. Write down the move or sequence. Give your self time at the end of the class to write down what you have learnt. You will quickly develop a short hand for the different turns and moves that make up a sequence.

Dont ever stop doing this at what ever level you are at. I bet your instructor writes down the new sequences they learn. Again a very simple idea but it will speed up your learning no end.

Ok here is something that you need to understand it will take approximately 2 months to start find you feet. Some people are quicker but every one has that moment of enlightenment eventually when they feel the Salsa rhythm in their sole and the feet begin to follow.

We have said this before its about having fun not competing.

Intros, Endings and Turnarounds for Keyboard: Essential Phrases for Swing, Latin, Jazz Waltz, and Blues Styles

Learn the intros, endings and turnarounds that all of the pros know and use! This new keyboard instruction book by John Valerio covers swing styles, ballads, Latin tunes, jazz waltzes, blues, major and minor keys, vamps and pedal tones, and more.
Customer Review: This book is fun ...
The book has well written, very musical phrases. The author suggests usage with several standards that should be in everyone's play book and it's fun to work them in with tunes you already know - in the proper keys. Take them apart, and there is something to learn in most of them. Great for browsing. The printing is good and the binding isn't troublesome on the rack. Nice experience. I would have rated it a five, but some of the pages have a tendency to work loose.
Customer Review: I love this book
I try to spend a half hour with it every night. This book will appeal to a wide range of interests. Whether you are a composer interested in theory, or a keyboardist enhancing your chops, there is something here for you. Most examples are four-measures long, but rich in musicality (kind of like what the Bach chorales are for those studying classical music.) The examples progress from simple chord progressions to more complex, and each is one is clearly explained. Nice melodies too! It is apparent that the author has spent a lot of time with each of the sub-genres (swing, ballads, blues, Latin, etc.) and has distilled his knowledge into a neat recipe book that will serve as a launching point for those wishing to further their expertise.

Into the Light World Tour

Captured during a two-night stand at a Dutch arena, this 100-minute concert special documents Gloria Estefan's lavish 1991 world tour, which underscored the Cuban-American singer's graduation from acclaim as a dance-floor diva to the ranks of female pop superstars. At its best, Into the Light World Tour displays the relentless energy, personal warmth, and crack musicianship that Estefan and her husband, producer, and principal collaborator, Emilio Estefan Jr., had evolved through her old band, the Miami Sound Machine, and taken uptown through her solo career. When the star and her band kick into high gear, percussion simmering and horns blazing in taut, deftly arranged choruses, the propulsive lure of salsa is hard to resist.

Technically, Estefan is a singer with a supple tone but modest range, hardly suggesting the caliber expected of a bona fide diva. Neither does her small, compact frame suggest a dancer's physique, despite the production's reliance on extended dance sequences. Yet she makes the most with what she has, harnessing formidable physical energy and transmitting considerable warmth to her audience. Her material, including both Miami Sound Machine hits and subsequent solo signatures, works best when staying closest to her roots, riding the giddy syncopations of uptempo Latin rhythms, or plying the lambent emotions of traditional ballads. Her exhortations to dance--"Get on Your Feet," "Conga," and "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" being the inevitable faves--work handily with an ecstatic audience.

More grizzled viewers should be forewarned that this, like most recent concert films, isn't purely documentary--apart from backstage sequences that duly flatter the star, the live sound has been liberally sweetened during post-concert production. --Sam Sutherland
Customer Review: A great concert
I never actually saw this video. I was at the concert. The concert was awesome, so if this video does a decent job of capturing it, then it should be great too.
Customer Review: Gloria is the best and so are her concerts
Gloria is the best singer ever. On stage she's a divette. She's the best and so are her shows. The way she sings live is great, and so is her dancing. The band is great too. They know how to play and everybody goes wild in the audience!!!!!!!Always!!!!! I love her with all my heart and soul, 4 ever.....

Did you always want to learn to dance, but never had the time? With college and career, marriage and children, and then your kids' college and careers, and their marriage and children, the years have a way of spinning away from us. Before you know it, you've gone from being a young adult to an empty nester in the blink of an eye. You and your spouse may find yourselves retired, looking at each other over the breakfast table saying, "What should we do now?"

If one of the things you and your spouse always meant to do but never got a chance to, was learn to dance, don't push that aside, thinking you're too old. You are never too old to learn to dance.

Dancing is excellent low-impact exercise. You are up and moving, getting your blood pumping a little. Dancing helps to increasing your stamina and strength. It improves balance and coordination, and it helps to relieve stress.

Dancing is not only great exercise, it's also a lot of fun. Taking dance lessons is such a fun thing to do that many people don't really consider it in the same category as taking an exercise class like aerobics, for example.

Aerobics and dancing are actually very much the same. The difference lies in the intent behind the movement. People usually take aerobics because they want to see a result after the class is over. The movements are done in order to be able to see an eventual change in their bodies; a change on the scale, on the tape measure or in the way clothes fit. The enjoyment of aerobics isn't within the class, but afterward. In a dance class, the focus is on the movement itself. The enjoyment is in the mirror as you are moving, not afterward. Any changes that happen after a dance class are a side benefit. But the joy and fun of learning to dance is the class itself.

Dancing is also very romantic. As we live our normal lives with jobs, kids and the activities of everyday life, we can lose touch with this part of ourselves and this part of our love relationship. Think back to when you and your spouse were dating. There was probably a little dancing involved, wasn't there? Believe it or not, that flirtation and fun that you shared when you were dating is still there within both of you. You just have to give it an opportunity to be expressed.

Knowing how to dance is a great way to connect with each other as well as enjoy more of what life has to offer. Going out for dinner and dancing with friends is a great way to spend any evening. Even the old family summer barbeque that you've been having for years can be livened up by setting up a small dance floor and some music.

So if you and your spouse have ever thought that you would like to learn to dance, there has never been a better time to do it. Learning to dance is something you'll never regret.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to dance it's time to take action. Some people talk about starting a new hobby or learning a new skill for years and but never do. Don't fall victim to inaction. Seize the day.

It far easier then you think to get started. Simply book some dance lessons and turn up. It's the only way you will find out if it's something you really want to do or not. At the end of your life you won't regret the things you did - you will regret the things you didn't do. Learn how to get started here: http://www.dancevogue.com.au/
